Andy Castonguay is a Principal Analyst with Informa Telecoms & Media contributing to Informa’s Handsets and Devices team with key focus on the evolving mobile device ecosystem and vendor strategies worldwide. Based in California, Castonguay works with mobile device manufacturers, mobile operators, chipset makers, application developers and major retailers to help clients navigate the dynamic changes in this highly competitive market. He is a frequent speaker and moderator at international conferences, as well as a regular press commentator. His recent research interests include smartphone technology, mobile operating systems trends, mobile transactions, machine to machine business models and mobile broadband services.

Andy has 13 years experience covering the telecoms and technology sectors for different research providers in both North and South America. Most recently he headed up Yankee Group’s handsets and devices research. Prior to working with Yankee in North America, the director of consulting and research for Telefinance, a boutique financial and management consulting firm in Brazil. There, Castonguay managed a number of strategic consulting projects, including the marketing and operational portions of the pre-acquisition due diligence of BellSouth’s largest Latin American property in 2003

Castonguay holds B.A. degrees from Brown University in history and Portuguese and Brazilian studies. He is fluent in English and Portuguese. Originally from San Diego, he was a member of the US Junior National Water Polo team in high school and college.
