Stephen Wilson is a Senior Analyst working across Informa Telecoms and Media’s Europe and Broadband & Internet Intelligence Centres. On a regional level he specialises in developments across the telecoms sector in Eastern Europe. Stephen has previously co-authored the reports “The Next 100 Million”, looking at fixed broadband growth in emerging economies, and “Broadband in Russia and the CIS”. He regularly writes country and operator profiles on markets in the Eastern European region as well as case studies and analysis articles.
Stephen is responsible for the broadband team’s fixed network equipment coverage. He has a strong interest in next generation access developments across the world and has led a research stream looking at developments such as VDSL2 vectoring, pair bonding and phantom mode.
He has recently spoken at a number of conferences including Broadband World Forum, DSL Acceleration and ip&tv Forum Eastern Europe&Eurasia. Stephen has also worked on consultancy projects, most recently leading a project on potential deployment scenarios for NGPON 2.
Stephen has helped to grow Informa’s fixed broadband, multichannel TV and fixed voice database WBIS, personally taking responsibility for the addition of over 500 operators and 60 markets.
He is a graduate in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from St Catherine’s College, Oxford University and speaks fluent Spanish having lived in Northern Spain for one year.
